Nikki Westerly is a main character in the first and second seasons of the WB drama series Summerland. She is the middle child in the family, and dates Cameron Bale. She is portrayed by Kay Panabaker.

Background[]

Nikki is an exceptionally bright child. She starts off trying to take over the "mother" role, but eventually settling in and making many friends including Cameron Bale, who would later become her on/off boyfriend.

Personality[]

Nikki is a responsible young girl, she tries her best to be there for her siblings and take care of her loved ones.

Physical Description[]

She is a young teenager with white skin and hazel eyes. She has blond hair that she keeps shoulder-length with a side part and slightly curled. She dresses for the warm weather with sundresses, or t-shirts and skirts.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

In Pilot,
Nikki and her two brothers, Bradin and Derrick, are sent to move in with their aunt, Ava Gregory, after the tragic deaths of their parents. This causes Ava to move them from rural Hogarth County, Kansas, to the fast paced shores of Playa Linda, California. Due to the recent upheaval, this causes them all to encounter problems on their first night, as emotions are put to the test.

In And So the Day Begins,
Nikki stays up in her room and tries to take over the mother figure roll, and is hesitant to accept Ava and the others as her new guardians, and her parents death.

In Fireworks,
Nikki forms a crush on her new friend Cameron Bale, but things get complicated when she finds that Ava has fallen for Kyle Bale, Cameron's recently divorced father.

In Into My Life,
Nikki's blooming relationship with Cameron takes a bumpy road when it's tested because Derrick needs Cameron's help with his hitting.

In The Grass Is Greener Than You Think,
Nikki believes she must seduce Cameron in order to keep him interested in her and away from his ex-girlfriend Amber Starr.

In Big Waves,
Niki feels insecure in her relationship with Cameron, and Ava tries to get her mind on something else.

In To Thine Self Be True,
Nikki's possessiveness is putting a strain on her relationship with Cameron.

In Secrets,
Nikki spends time with Erika Spalding, and observes her reaction to the reappearance of an old boyfriend.

In Skipping School,
Ava begins to think that it might be in Nikki's best interest to skip her last year of junior high and go straight to high school, but Nikki does not think that it is.

In Kicking and Screaming,
Nikki and Cameron spend time together, without the pressures of others opinions.

In Life in a Fishbowl,
Ava goes on a date with Nikki's principal, while Nikki and Cameron try out being just friends.

In Yummy Mummy,
Nikki and Amber are very shocked when Cameron shows up with a new girlfriend, Jordan.

In On the Last Night of Summer,
Nikki suffers when she remembers her parents death.

Season 2[]

In The Wisdom to Know the Difference,
Nikki becomes very upset that Ava has asked Simon O'Keefe to marry her since she feels Ava is meant to be with Johnny Durant.

In I Am the Walrus,
Nikki is persuaded by Amber to tryout for cheerleading but does not make it and Amber makes it as captain. Amber asks Nikki if she really wants to be on the team leading Nikki to become the school's mascot.

In Sledgehammer,
Nikki helps Cameron run for student president of their school, but Cameron does not want to follow Nikki's plan and winds up embarrassing and annoying her.

In Pick Nik,
Nikki becomes frustrated with Cameron and the school elections.

In Mr. & Mrs. Who,
Nikki lets out a loud roar at a big family dinner putting Johnny on the spot.

In The Pleiades,
Nikki feels very guilty about Ava and Simon's breakup and is constantly reminded that it is her fault.

In Where There's a Will, There's a Wave,
Nikki attempts to make things up to her aunt.

In Leaving Playa Linda,
After Nikki falls for an older guy in high school and finds out that he is gay, then realizes that she still cares for Cameron.

In Signs,
Nikki learns something troubling about Cameron's home life, and struggles to find a way to support him.

In The Space Between Us,
When Nikki's poem is chosen for publication and she is asked to read it in front of an audience and Amber offers Nikki alcohol to steady her nerves. After learning of Bradin and Nikki's troubles, Ava returns home from her European business trip.

In Safe House,
When Nikki goes to visit Cameron, his dad throws him back into the house. Nikki talks to Ava about what she saw and Cameron soon starts staying at their house, until Kyle Bale, Cameron's father, comes looking for him. Nikki suspects that Cameron's dad abuses him.

In Careful What You Wish For,
Nikki and Cameron have a heart to heart, sharing useful advice.

In What's Past is Prologue,
Nikki conspires with Colby to get Johnny and Ava together.
